The only true scale model kit of the USS Salem and her sister ships, USS Des Moines (CA-134) and USS Newport News (CA-148), are once again available for ordering from the US Naval Shipbuilding Museum, the home of the USS Salem.

This highly detailed, limited production, model kit is designed and manufactured by Classic Warships. The attention paid to accuracy in producing this kit is evident in the pictures displayed here. No other precise scale models of this class are available. 

The 1/350 scale model, when finished, measures 24 1/2" from bow to stern and represents the ships in their mid 1950's appearance. Its multimedia design includes resin and precision white metal castings along with brass photo-etch details. Complete assembly instructions along with a painting guide and decals for all three ships is included.

The kit is available in two versions, waterline and full hull. The hull is split at the waterline to allow you to display the model either way. Full hull kits include the lower hull, screws, shaft supports and rudder.

All proceeds from the sale of the kits go to the restoration and preservation of the USS Salem.

This will assure your reservation and you will receive an acknowledgement and reservation number. Send a check or money order (sorry no credit cards at this time) made out to the US Naval Shipbuilding Museum (or USNSM) to the museum marked- ATTN: Model Dept. 

Important! Reservations are held for three weeks from date of receipt of the e-mail. If payment is not received, the kit will go to the next person on the list. These kits are very popular and of limited quantities so to be fair to everyone, delivery is first come first served. Delivery is four to eight weeks. Unreserved orders will be filled when reserved kits been shipped, on an availability basis.
