Peter and his crew has been restoring the interior of many of
the compartments on the superstructure. Finally, the
superstructure is being restored to her former glory!

This
past May five dedicated former crewmembers spent seven days
aboard the USS Salem painting and restoring the Combat
Information Center and the Second Deck.

Volunteer Opportunities Available
The volunteers aboard the USS Salem
contribute significantly to improvements and restoration made
aboard our historic vessel. We are always looking for volunteers
interested in preserving a piece of our history.

If you have a trade, skill, special
knowledge, or just a desire to help where ever you can, we welcome
you aboard.
By becoming an active volunteer, you
will be a participant in the continued restoration of the USS Salem.
You will learn the ship from stem to stern as you and other
volunteers bring the ship back to its former glory.
Regardless of your trade skills or
maritime knowle dge,
we will put you together with people who cover all aspects of the
USS Salem's restoration. A wide range of opportunities exist from
restoration to Tour Guides.
